"May the birth of the Prince of Peace remind the world where its true happiness, lies; and may our hearts be filled with hope and joy, for the Savior has been born for us." - Pope Benedict XVI, December 25, 2005 |
In Third Grade, we have been preparing for the coming of our Lord. In our Religion class, the students have learned about Advent and the meaning of the Advent wreath. Each week, we look forward to the lighting of another candle.
We have been busy in our other subjects as well. In Reading, we finished our second novel, Ramona Quimby, Age 8. The students will return to their Reading textbooks in January. We are studying verbs in Language Arts and will soon write a persuasive letter. In Math, we have begun multiplication. Please encourage your child to practice multiplication facts daily. Science has us learning about animals in their habitats and what role they play in the food chain.
It is hard to believe that the end of 2011 is soon approaching. We have accomplished many things in Third Grade, and we look forward to new challenges and experiences in 2010. I wish all Our Lady of the Ridge families blessings of peace, health and happiness this Christmas season.
